Sicily and London have never been so close thanks to the ingenious plan of a Sicilian entrepreneur who’s had enough of feeling homesick and decided to bring a piece of Sicily in the Big Smoke. Luca Del Bono runs a successful Spa in the heart of London and last June he decided to transfer 25 tons of sea water with fourteen sterile tanks onboard of trucks who have made their way to the British Capital. The water was then placed in the Spa tubs that through the use of sophisticated filter circuit keeps the salinity, mineral characteristic and constant temperature of 34 degrees.
As this was not enough he also paved the whole swimming pool with original Etna’s lava tiles.A proper treat for the Londoners that now can enjoy a swim in the Sicilian Sea without having to catch a plane.A treat for some but not for all as the Spa is quite exclusive with high profile members such as Peppa Middleton (the Duchess of Cambridge young sister) as well as many renowned top models.Lastly, to ease his food nostalgia he has also opened a Sicilian bistro called ‘Iddu’.
